The life of an athlete is not about roses.
My name is Joost Meppelink and on June 1 I will climb the Alpe d'Huez six times for charity, over 6300 altimeters. Well, norally I wouldn't lose sleep over this. Well, okay. Granted that's a pretty good effort. But here it comes....
Six times up the Alpe d'Huez for charity, more than 6300 altimeters, and it doesn't get any less no matter how many times you say it. So normally no problem. But given my neck hernia, it will be a tough challenge because I've been out for a while anyway.Since two weeks I am back on the road bike. The head and legs are willing but the back and neck muscles are creaking. I have to build up slowly, first getting the basic condition back to normal, which means long days on the bike again. Low heart rate, but many hours on the bike. And paying attention to my normal diet, but also knowing what to eat on the bike during exercise.
Want to know how I am progressing in my attempt to become an athlete again? And what bars, powders and supplements are working for me? Then be sure to check out my blog on AthleteSportsWorld keep reading my blog. In the coming weeks I will keep you updated on my progress, setbacks and highlights on my way to the Alpe D'Huez. I can already tell you that Matthias from AthleteSportsWorld me with his advice.
