My name is Lotte van Trigt. I am a triathlete and freelance marketer. I was born and raised in Haarlem and currently live in Barendrecht. I used to be rather lazy than tired nowadays I would rather be tired than lazy. In September 2006 I was hit by a car and broke my back.
A few years later I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. Therefore, to have less trouble with my body, I started exercising. I noticed that by moving I had a little less pain and with that the love for getting tired was born. In 2018 I did my first triathlon race and since then I have been sold on the sport.
My first race still with the well-known pancakes aka breaststroke swim stroke but right after that I started a breaststroke course. After quite a few races on the shorter distances (eighth and quarter) there was the first half in Jonkoping, Sweden in 2019. Then in 2020 the whole Ironman of Copenhagen was supposed to follow but it was cancelled due to the Covid-19. In 2021 there was finally the full Ironman of Copenhagen and 8 weeks later also the Ironman of Cascais in Portugal. In 2022 a number of great races followed, culminating in a third place during the Ironman of Barcelona in my age group.
This year I'm going to try my best to see if I can qualify for the Ironman World Championships. Kona one of my big dreams. This probably makes me one of the few women with rheumatoid arthritis to do so. I hope I can inspire others to run despite evenIt doesn't have to be Ironmans, but it is good for your body despite physical complaints. And Triathlon just makes me very happy.
During my accident I saw life really flash by me, but I didn't die and now I do things that make me very happy." "I'm not saying everyone should do triathlon, but you can do so much more than you think.
