On June 1, 2023, Team Mufasa will cycle up the Alpe D'Huez as many times as possible.
One in three Dutch people will get cancer. Every year 44,000 people die of cancer in the Netherlands and Alpe d'HuZes was founded with the goal of turning the powerlessness that comes from cancer into strength.
Team Mufasa chooses this year to put maximum effort into raising as much money as possible through Alpe d'HuZes, for the KWF fund. To make research possible, so that there is a world where you no longer have to die of cancer.
Why participate in Alpe d'HuZes?
Each team member of Team Mufasa has their own story and reason for participating or is participating to support their friends.
For example, on August 6, 2006, Joost lost his father to leukemia at the age of 58. And sixteen years later, the disease seems more present than ever within his family and that of his wife. Several loved ones have died of cancer in the past year.
Teammate Eelco lost his father to lung cancer 2.5 years ago, after surviving postate cancer, and his mother died last year from pancreatic cancer.
And for Jeroen, cancer entered his life at an early age in the form of Hodgkin when it was diagnosed in his mother. Later, his mother also survived breast cancer but unfortunately passed away last year due to heart surgery she had to endure because of damage to her heart valves from chemotherapy.
