I am Koen Hijman, 25 years old and anno 2023 already almost 10 years active within triathlon on the short and now also long distances.
Challenged by my father 10 years ago to do a mini-triathlon because I already did swimming and running. After finishing I didn't like it at all and planned to never do another triathlon. Only interest did grow and I started training more focused and picked up cycling quickly and well.
After a few European cup races as a junior and U23/Elite man I noticed that the short distance did not suit me as much and that I prefer the longer distances. Next season the focus is mainly on getting stronger on the bike and gaining more experience on the longer distances.
Competitions that are on the planning include Kwart Triathlon Ter Aar, NK Halve van Nieuwkoop, IM 70.3 Westfriesland and a few divisional races for the Dolfijn Triathlon Amsterdam.
